How to prevent Harmattan related Sickness...


HARMATTAN RELATED DISEASES AND HOW TO STAY HEALTHY DURING THE PERIOD.
Harmattan is a season in the West African subcontinent, which occurs between the end of November and the middle of March. It is characterized by the dry and dusty northeasterly trade wind, of the same name, which blows from the Sahara Desert over West Africa into the Gulf of Guinea.

The season of harmattan comes with the following regular sickness and diseases.
.Common Cold,
.Asthma
.Sickle Cell Crisis
.Eye problem
.Cattarh
.Bronchitis
.Pneumonia
.Dry Skin
.Tonsillitis
.Epistaxis
.Burns
.Road Traffic Accident
.And many other health problems.

HOW TO STAY HEALTHY DURING THE PERIOD :
  • Wear thick cloths to make you warm.
  • Drink plenty water to prevent dehydration, at least 1.5 - 2 liters it prevents cold infections.
  • Wash your eyes regularly to avoid red eyes and wear protective spectacles.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a mask.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Apply oily creams to keep our skin healthy.
  • Apply lip balms and oily cream to the soles of the feet, it will help to  prevent them from cracking.

Consider the following measure during this season also;
  1. Reduce exposure to the dust.
  2. If you are Asthmatic, reduce exposure to dirty and dusty atmosphere and always keep the inhaler handy.
  3. Wash fruits and vegetables properly before eating.
  4. Don’t drink soda, coke and other carbonated soft drinks, they may dehydrate your skin.
  5. Drink hot tea, because it keeps you warm and free of flu.
  6. Bath with warm water, in the mornings, evenings because it will keep your body warm and free from cold and other flu symptoms.
  7. Switch off all electrical appliances after use.
  8. Quench naked fire after use.
