Feminism in the eyes of an African

FEMINISM IN THE EYES OF AN AFRICAN!

In unison they shout “we want to be equal”
We want equal rights, we want to be independent!
The struggle has taken a drastic step
Workshops, seminars, talk show, campaign
Has continued to become a daily activity
As they canvass for equality.

We laugh
Why are they myopic?
They can’t see through those walls of deceit
Blinded by the desire to rub shoulders with a man
We laugh again in high pitch
Where is that done in Africa?
Foolishly we accepted their culture!
Their lifestyle!
Their tradition!
Now we want to join in the campaign for equality.

We perceive dangerous aroma of danger!
You want to be independent?
Fine,
But remember that women have their place!
“Created with a golden heart full of
Love
Compassion
Endurance
Patience
Bravery”

A woman has in her Countless gifts!
But how then will all this be achieved when they become so ambitious?
Full time career women?
Full time canvassers for equality?
A man has his place so does a woman!

A woman can be independent
Have time for herself
her husband
her children and household!
She can be educated
And know how to manage her home!
She can be a full time house wife
who knows how to manage her husband’s resources.

She can be an illiterate
Whose effect is felt in the Society.
Her place is never in the kitchen yes!
But what happens
When her primary assignment is neglected?
Her family suffers,
Her children becomes miscreants,
The house helps takes the role of a mother,
She either impact negative or positive vibes
Her Society falls,
Her husband becomes
Aggressive, violent, promiscuous

He doesn’t get the basic ingredients a wife offers
That love
That strength
That support
That courage
That help
That listening ears
That woman he can confide in
That wise woman he can run to for advice
She is no where to be found!
Divorce cases starts to skyrocket
Families are torn apart
She wants to be a man!
She wants to be a man!
Hmmmmm.

Be careful of what you wish for!
The African society has traditions
That has kept it’s people in place
Helped in grooming the children
Helped in keeping a perfect society
Her husband was proud of her
Women are free to be independent,
Free to pursue their careers
But aren’t permitted to neglect their motherly responsibilities!

I am a woman!
A proud woman!
But I never forget my place!
Because a man is always a man!
