The uniqueness of a woman

The uniqueness of a woman.

...BECAUSE I AM A WOMAN
My story is that of a betrayal.
I believed that I was beautiful, full of life, I had a future, a dream, a passion and a career.
I studied so much to achieve my dreams.
Then I started hearing of gender equality.
So all sexes can be equal?
I could indeed make the world powerful and great because I am a woman!

I hated the word "house wife".
I fought day and night to be independent.
I wanted freedom
I wanted to rise beyond my expectations.
I had a dream, a dream!
Then marriage came like a whirlwind.
I had to sacrifice my ambitions on the alter of marriage!
But because I wanted to be a graduate, I %decided not to get married.
Then the worst happened, i was stripped of every financial help.

They said a woman should end in the kitchen.
No, I wanted to taste education even a pinch of it would do.
I was handicapped, helpless, ambition less and hopeless.

The light began to fade gradually,
I had to succumb,
I am a woman
I do not have a voice of my own.
The society has given me my place.

Prostitution was never an option for me.
My conscience and my background would not permit me.
I got married.
An old ugly rich man.
A marriage without happiness,
No joy, nothing thrills me!
I had regrets,
But I vowed,
Never will my children be like me especially my daughters!

I still wonder if I would ever forgive my parents.
